Corvette Week

Sometimes you have to set aside your art, your crafts, yourself and be what your very special husband wants you to be. In my case that is a Corvette enthusiast!

Don't take me wrong, I love our cars and even enjoy a show now and then, but this week is way more than that! We towed, thanks to some wonderful friends, our 1992 vette from Sealy, TX to St. Charles, IL. We left home Monday morning and arrived Wednesday shortly afternoon.

Our little dog traveled with us and by day three was totally confused. He loves to "go", but this was way more "go" than he had ever known. But, so good!!! Sat on my lap and slept most of the trip, watched out the window and sniffed at the vent the rest! What a cool way to travel!!!

And so we are here! I've never seen sooooo many Vettes in one place. The show is held at a golf resort and cars are all over the course! Can't even imagine what the greens keeper is thinking!! Bet he's losing sleep, but for those who love Corvettes this is heaven.

We are here to have our car certified a survivor! 20+ years old and over 59% factory original! I'm not sure why this is important, but remember I'm here for him and so I'm having fun and doing whatever he needs to ensure all goes well in judging tomorrow.

So now you've seen our car in preparation, and a rainbow of cars on the golf course. I've spared you pictures of the many parts for sale and the amazing food vendors, that are challenging my healthy resolve with cinnamon sugar almonds and funnel cakes!!

This time next week we will be back home in the real world and this will be wonderful memories and the beginning of a scrapbook will be in the works for Bill! And Jack (dog) will be back in his own yard wondering what that "go" was all about and where that fun doggy day care and his new friends have gone!

Back to being a good wife to my awesome husband and looking at cars! After all if it wasn't for him I wouldn't be going home to a wonderful life filled with crafting! I love him and I love my life!

Road Trip Art Journal

Leaving on a fun road trip with my fab hubby tomorrow. This trip is more about him than me as we're taking a Corvette to a car show near Chicago! I am taking watercolors and acrylics, lots of pens and pencils and plan to sketch away the trip! I needed a watercolor journal so made my own and just finished the base coat colors for the front and back.

As soon as they're dry I'll do the inside and be ready to go. I love these colors and haven't decided what else I will use to decorate them, but I made an adorable card for hubby for dad's day from our dog (he's going with us) and may put it on the front.
I ask him and he said yes, I think I will do just that! I've got some Tim Holtz stickers for different state license plates so I think I'll use the ones for the four states we wander through, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri and Illinois!  We will be so near my hometown, but with a trailer attached to the back of the truck, we will just keep on driving and save memory lane for another trip!

Now it's ready to go! Picture is too blurry to read, but at the bottom I used the stamp - "Half the fun of travel is the aesthetic of lostness."  I like this because it sort of sums up the sense of going someplace you've never been - you always have that question of whether you're going the right way and that's even with the girl in the box!
